Tam's Drams Page updated 08/05/12Tam's Drams has closed down - the premises re-opened as a base for Scotch Whisky Auctions from 30th April 2012. Tam's Drams is a bit different from every other specialist whisky shop I've been to. If you're searching for a specific bottle of whisky, you may well not find it at Tam's. If you have an open mind about finding a whisky that you might like to try, Tam will probably be able to find something in his store to suit your palette - and your pocket. Tam Gardiner also stocks malts from Independent bottlers Duncan Taylor, Douglas Laing, Single Malts of Scotland and Wemyss Malts. Tam has also bottled a 21yo Linkwood (below). Tam also organises regular tastings, often paired with food at some of the many excellent local restaurants. Tam's Drams also plays host to Scotch Whisky Auctions - items in the current auction being displayed in the shop. They charge sellers 10% commission on the hammer price, plus £3 per item entered and an additional £4 if reserves are asked for. Buyers pay a flat rate of £5 per winning lot, plus 3% credit card surcharge, and postage if necessary. The website has details of the current auction as well as the results of previous auctions, from which it can be seen that some good bargains can be had. |
