Aultmore is not open to the public
I recall cycling out to Aultmore for a few external shots, but can't locate them. Pictures from April 2013 will be added shortly.
A produc t of the 1890s whisky boom - and a victim of the Pattison bust (the Pattisons owned the distillery when they were declared bankrupt) and it closed for 5 years. Aultmore has been owned by John Dewars twice - from 1923 until 1925 when they sold the distillery to DCL a Diageo predecessor - who sold it back to Dewars, by then a subsidiary of Bacardi in 1998. Diageo had rebuilt and expanded the distillery during their ownership - in 1970.
Aultmore was powered by a steam engine for 70 years - it is on display on the distillery site. The short-lived Keith to Buckie railway (1884-1915) passed through the site of the distillery. The railway remained open for freight as far as Aultmore until 1966 - the rebuild of the distillery has extended over the former trackbed.

Aultmore Distillery is on the B9106 Keith to Buckie Road.
Diageo released a number of bottlings under the Flora and Fauna label in 1991 when they owned the distillery - even e cask strength F&F. Bacardi released a 12yo Aultmore in 2004 - along with own bottlings of Craigellachie and Royal Brackla, but none of these have been repeated, and you'll be lucky to find them now.
Independent bottlings of Aultmore are relatively common, and SMWS have recently bottled several excellent casks. Most of the spirit ends up in Dewars' blends.
